Privacy policy

Draft for attorney review. This text has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.

This policy explains what information CatchMass uses and why. The short version: you don't need an account, your location stays on your device, and we never sell your data.

Location

When you tap “Near me”, your browser shares your location with the page on your device so it can sort nearby churches. We send only rounded coordinates to look up nearby churches, and we don't store them with anything that identifies you.

Favorites and preferences

Favorites, language, theme and text size are stored on your device. If you sign in with email to sync favorites or get alerts, we store your email address, your favorites and your alert choices.

Emails, push and text alerts

We send emails and alerts only after you confirm you want them. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Text alerts, where offered, require your phone number and confirmation, and you can stop them at any time by replying STOP.

Photos you send

Photos sent with “Snap the sign” have their location and camera information removed when they reach us. They are used to check a church's schedule and are seen by our reviewers.

Analytics

We count page views and searches in aggregate (for example, how many people looked at a parish's Confession times this week). We don't build profiles of individual visitors. If the site owner turns on Google Analytics, it runs only after you agree, using consent mode.

Reports and messages

When you send a message or report, we keep what you wrote, and your name and email if you give them, so we can respond. Rate limiting uses a one-way hash of your network address that is not stored with your messages.

Sharing

We never sell or rent personal information. Service providers that help us run the site (hosting, email delivery, text delivery) process data only on our behalf.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe, delete your account or ask us to delete your information at any time through the contact page.

Children

CatchMass is a general-audience service and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
