What we list
CatchMass lists Catholic churches, chapels and services that a Catholic diocese, eparchy or the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter recognizes.
Where our list of churches comes from
Which churches exist comes from the official websites of each US Latin Catholic archdiocese and diocese, each Eastern Catholic eparchy and archeparchy, and the Personal Ordinariate. We use map data only to place a church on the map after its diocese or eparchy has listed it.
What we include
- Parish churches, missions and seasonal chapels
- Cathedrals, basilicas and shrines
- Campus, hospital, airport and monastery chapels listed by a diocese or eparchy
- Eastern Catholic churches and Ordinariate communities
- Traditional Latin Mass sites designated by a diocese, including approved communities such as the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and the Institute of Christ the King where a diocese lists them
What we don't include
We don't list chapels or groups that a Catholic diocese, eparchy or the Ordinariate does not recognize. That includes the Society of St. Pius X, sedevacantist and independent chapels, and non-Catholic churches. We keep this rule the same everywhere and don't comment on it.
We don't list the Archdiocese for the Military Services, whose chapels are generally on installations closed to the public.
